About

Concordia On-Air is the student-produced news program of Concordia College. Each week, the staff of On-Air strives to provide the  Concordia community with the latest Cobber news and events. The half-hour program broadcasts across campus live every Wednesday at 6 pm on campus cable channel 5. Additionally, it replays throughout the week at 12:00pm, 6:00pm and 11:00pm.

Auditions

Staff auditions are held each semester by the 8 members of the Executive Staff with the assistance of 4 faculty advisors: Greg Carlson – Assistant Professor, CSTA; Mike Knodle – Video Production Specialist, Digital Media Services; Tony Ocaña – Instructor, CSTA and Don Rice – Chair, CSTA. The Executive Producer and the faculty advisors select members of the Executive Staff each spring for a full year term. The seven executive staff members include the Executive Producer, Creative Producer, Public Relations Director, Technical Director, News Director, Sports Director, Arts & Entertainment Director.

Meetings

The full staff of On-Air meets two times each week: Mondays at 5:30 in Olin 122 to plan for the week’s broadcast, and Wednesdays at 5:00 in the Olin TV Studio to film live.

Organization

Concordia On-Air is a co-curricular organization run through the Department of Communication Studies and Theatre Art. Students do not need to be a Communication major or minor to be able to join.

Show

The show is divided into 5 individual segments: Hosts, News, Weather, Sports and Arts & Entertainment. Included in these segments are a wide variety of content, including stories that are read live, pre-produced stories, interviews, and commentary.
